So, after tens of thousands of dollars of legal fees spent by the University to keep its "booze accounts" secret, what do we really know about The Foundation?

Tim Ryan, Executive Director of The Foundation says:

"I don't know of any control that the University has over the Foundation."

Money isn't given to the University; it's given to the Foundation.

[Compare the preceeding statements by Mr. Ryan with the following statements by Mr. Ryan.]

As an employee of the University of Southern Mississippi, I report directly to President Shelby Thames.

Salaries and beneifits of University Foundation employees are paid like any other staff or faculty member at the University.

The Foundation does not pay rent on the Honor House which is located on University property.

Honor House is University property.

The Foundation does not pay electricity on the building.



Richard Lambert, University Counsel and counsel for Mr. Ryan says:

Q: And are you appearing as Mr. Ryan’s personal attorney?”

A: by Mr. Lambert, “Yes, today yes.”

Q: “And are you appearing as counsel for the University, also?”

A: by Mr. Lambert, “In this deposition I am appearing for him and probably in the dual role for the University, too.”

A: by Mr. Lambert, "[Tim Ryan] has testified that the Foundation's employees are University employees and that's the only connection."
