Update (October 23, 2006) What is Carter’s Attack on Dissenters Costing the CoB? "... This Special Report examines some of the extraordinary moves being made by EFIB Chair George Carter to suppress dissent in his department and in the College of Business. As usmpride.com has reported, Carter orchestrated the “Black Tuesday” re-vote in the EFIB (19 Sept 2006) that resulted in a duly constituted 3-faculty governance committee being disbanded (see “Black Tuesday” page at usmpride.com). Finance professor James Lindley and accounting professor Marc DePree have filed an official University Grievance regarding the “Black Tuesday” situation. New evidence pouring into usmpride.com indicates that Carter is now orchestrating a campaign of retaliation and harassment directed at those who spoke out against the Black Tuesday coup.  This report examines what is happening to one dissenter, economics professor Franklin Mixon...".
(October 23, 2006) Did George Carter Get 12 Years for Tenure?  "Investigators at usmpride.com have recently discovered that Daniel’s lengthy tenure-track is not unprecedented in the College of Business at USM. Using data obtained from SEDONA Files XIV, it appears that EFIB Chair George Carter stayed on the tenure-track for 12 academic years before finally being granted tenure, in 1996, at the same time he was promoted to professor (usmpride.com sources confirm that Carter served as department chair for several years as an untenured faculty member). That particular installment of SEDONA Files presented Carter’s academic employment history. The part of that historical timeline that is relevant to this installment in the Special Report series is presented below: ...".
(October 20, 2006) (Update) Is Carter an Economist, a Statistician, an Ethicist, or None of the Above? "If, as has been demonstrated in multiple reports at usmpride.com, Carter is ill-suited to teach ethics, economics, and statistics, why is he retained on the faculty at USM? "
(October 19, 2006) (Update) CoBscam? A Look at Questionable Teaching Schedules in the College of Business "An interesting angle on some teaching scheduling practices in the CoB is taking shape, based on some documentation obtained by USMPRIDE.COM. Investigators have copies of the EFIB teaching schedules for fall 2006 and spring 2007. Those schedules indicate that certain EFIB faculty are receiving overload pay for teaching “out-of-load” courses. Let’s start with the fall 2006 schedule."
(October 17, 2006)  31st & Pearl, part 33, Greene Hollow "Judging from EFIB Chair George Carter’s prepared statement to the EFIB on 19 September 2006 (“Black Tuesday”), Greene Hall is becoming Greene Hollow.  In stating that the faculty governance choice made by EFIB is one with which the departmental chair must be “comfortable,” as Carter did that day, Carter essentially added some language to USM’s Faculty Handbook.  What Carter fails to recognize is that faculty governance belongs to the faculty, which is precisely why the Faculty Handbook calls for a vote among all eligible faculty members.  The department chair’s comfort zone does not enter the equation at any point."  See also, Quotable Doty and Black Tuesday.
(October 11, 2006) Silence = Concurrence "On September 19, 2006, George Carter manipulated the USM Faculty Handbook and violated the spirit of faculty governance to effect a change in EFIB’s governance structure. Carter shirked his duties as EFIB chair to politic and buy support for his plans. It was clear that some of the EFIB faculty who are loyal to Carter had been privy to the fact that Carter was planning an unpublicized re-vote...".  For more reports related to this issue, click here.
(October 9, 2006)  Developing Story (con't) "EFIB Chair George Carter has struck once again, dealing economics professor Franklin Mixon a 5-day per week, 2-location, 3-prep teaching load for spring semester 2007. Sources tell usmpride.com News that Carter’s move is another attempt to retaliate against departmental dissent, this time lashing out at Mixon for challenging Carter’s attempt to subvert faculty governance on 19 September 2006. ..."
(October 9, 2006) Word from campus is that Dr. Carter held his 8:00 and 9:00 classes this morning (after missing at least four days this semester), then immediately left campus.  Aren't administrators paid extra to be on campus all day?
(October 9, 2006) A Novel Approach to Improve Learning in BA 301/303 As has been reported here at USMPRIDE.COM, Accreditation Team Chair George Carter believes that there are learning deficiencies in business statistics courses, so he proposed that the CoB begin to use Minitab in its business statistics courses (i.e., BA 301/303). Of course, long-time faculty in the CoB know that Minitab has been part of the CoB’s statistics offerings for quite a while. There is nothing new about using Minitab as part of instruction in BA 301/303. We believe, however, that there is a straightforward, perhaps novel, approach to improve learning in the CoB’s business statistics courses: Have the statistics instructors hold/meet their classes. As USMPRIDE.COM readers are aware, for the second time in the last four Fridays, statistics instructor (and Chair/Professor of Economics) George Carter has cancelled his BA 301 classes, reportedly for personal reasons.
(October 5, 2006) IS GEORGE CARTER THE SABOTEUR? "CoB Dean Harold Doty concluded the fall 2006 CoB Faculty Meeting by informing faculty that an unnamed individual or individuals were attempting to sabotage the College’s 2007 AACSB Reaffirmation efforts. Doty stated that AACSB officials had been notified of the sabotage efforts. This report puts forth a theory on who might be attempting to sabotage the CoB’s AACSB efforts. It is only a theory. However, we offer some particulars for USMPRIDE.COM readers to ponder as they consider the theory. We begin with a question: Is it possible that George Carter is one of the saboteurs? In considering this question, keep in mind the following:...".
(October 2, 2006) Is Carter Operating a Business out of JGH?  'This Special Report benefited from the tips received from a few usmpride.com readers. It concerns information that indicates that EFIB Chair George Carter is operating a consulting enterprise out of his office in the CoB’s Joseph Greene Hall. Sources led us to examine the webpage of the National Association of Forensic Economics. A screen of the Association’s main page is captured below: ..".
(October 12, 2006) 31st & Pearl, part 32, Carterspeak  "Judging from the evidence coming forth on the “Black Tuesday” coup that was orchestrated by the EFIB’s chair, George Carter, it seems clear to this columnist that Carter cheated to win his way back into sole possession of the personnel decision-making seat.  But, just what did he win in the process?  As Carter tells it, he won the comfort of rendering an independent judgment on departmental personnel issues; that is, he won independence from having to receive the advice and counsel of Tom Lindley and Mark Klinedinst. ..".
