Our core mission reflects taking PRIDE in all we do - Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Discipline, Excellence

Confidentiality - Uses and Abuses

The existence of confidentiality can be important to all of us.  Disclosure of some categories of information can result in identity theft, fines, and civil and criminal penalties under federal and state statutes.  Some well-known examples include:

          User IDs and passwords.

Personal financial information, including as financial aid data, bank account
          information, and credit card numbers.

          Social security numbers.

Health information covered by HIPAA federal regulations.

Student information covered by FERPA federal regulations.

Thus, I believe we can all agree that confidentiality has an important role in our lives.  However, a significant question is the limits of confidentiality.
